FINAL DESIGN | MAPPING THE NORTHSIDE
RATIONALE

For my design solution I have taken a non-geographical approach. This map represents the Northside of Canberra in a fun and engaging way. The purpose of this map is to give a general idea of where the Northside’s main attractions and sites are, not to pinpoint point exactly. Therefore this map would not be used to direct people to the places but as a quirky guide and keepsake.
The colour palette of greens and blues reflects Canberra’s vast and natural landscape. Each suburb is outlined and represented in these various colours, A concise sans serif typeface (Helvetica Neue Condensed Black) is used which reflects the design direction of the poster.
The final design solution is simplistic and effective. The Northside is mapped in a quirky form that steers away from the unoriginal and traditional geographic maps that we see regularly.
